In an effort to support promising talent in the UAE, Radio 1 (104.1 Dubai & 100.5 Abu Dhabi) has held a number of exciting activities for enthusiastic radio fans. After being inundated with eager applicants they invited a prize winner to come and spend 3 weeks at the station as an intern. The talented aspiring presenter was Abu Dhabi local and die-hard Radio 1 fan, Saif Alnaji.
Saif impressed Radio 1 management with his dedication, music passion and knowledge of radio so much that they took the unusual step of preparing him to cover for the regular host of Fusion, Humaid Al Amiri, while he takes a 3 week break.
Saif debuted on Fusion with confidence and presented 3 hours of Arabic and international hit music. As if the pressure of presenting his first show wasn’t enough, the unusual amount of press interest in his success meant that he was joined in the studio by a reporter and filmed for TV.
Head of Radio 1, John Hipper said “I was so impressed with Saifs performance. He can walk out of here tonight with his head held high – it’s not unusual for first timers to crumple with fear during their first show, but his first link was absolutely great and by the end of the show he sounded like he’d be doing it for years. We’re looking forward to having Saif as part of the Radio 1 familyâ€.
