His Royal Highness Prince Mishal bin Majed bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jeddah, the chairman of ‘Society of Majid Bin Abdul Aziz for Development and Social Services’ and His Excellence Dr. Yousuf Al Othaimain Minister of Social Affairs declared the organization of the ‘Social Development Forum’ under the slogan “From Charitable to Sustainable ” under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah, from June 6 – 8.
His Royal Highness Prince Mishal bin Majed bin Abdul Aziz, during a press conference held at the Society headquarter in Jeddah, stated that the Forum aims to shift from charitable to sustainable initiatives at both macro and micro levels in the country. The form aims to launch the national strategy of social development and set the benchmark for best practice in the nonprofit sector. The forum will feature presentations from internationally renowned speakers from all over the world and is expected to attract 400 participants from public, private and non-profit sectors.
Prince Mishal said that the basic message of the forum focused on the activation of multiple partnerships in various trends and the introduction of best practice measures in the non-profit sector, and make maximum use of local and international expertise through the participation and the exchange of knowledge and experience. In addition, activating the role of different sectors of society through the application of criteria for evaluating the performance and transparency.
Dr. Yousuf Al Othaimain Minister of Social Affairs, confirmed that the Forum aims to achieve several objectives, notably the definition of sustainable development and social work, enhance the performance and capabilities of the non-profit associations, communication between all sectors of the society, to hold forum with focus on social development and sustainability, and come up with recommendations to promote sustainable development.
The forum deals with a number of key themes, including the redefining partnerships to achieve the required development objectives, and highlighting international experiences in best practice, sustainable development and how to achieve it, and the motives of activating the system to ensure the quality and performance standards. Nevertheless, it will also address some of the local success stories and how to develop and make use of them.
The Forum eyes various groups, such as the governmental and private sectors, charities and associations, and who will participate in the Forum’s workshops. They will have a positive impact on corporate directors, public relations departments’ heads through the discussing strategic planning, project financial resources management and investment, in addition to marketing and human resources development.
