Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle made a special appearance in Qatar for the first time as part of a regional tour for her famed restaurant chain Asha’s.

On 18 May, Bhosle graced Asha’s restaurant in Villagio Mall in Doha. Her visit to Doha follows her successful tour in Kuwait where she hosted a cocktail reception for VIP’s and members of the press.

“We were extremely honoured that Asha Bhosle was able to visit us in the region, and it was a rare treat for the public to be able to meet Ashaji. She is a remarkable lady of many talents, and she truly inspires all the staff working with her as a part of the Asha’s team”, said Nader Hallal, Head of Marketing for the brand.

Bhosle’s love for cooking motivated her to open her first restaurant in Dubai in 2002, and has since added eight additional restaurants to the chain. Today Asha’s restaurants can be found in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and UK.

Asha’s offers a unique dining experience famous for its contemporary Indian cuisine. Asha’s signature dishes and ambiance, themed around the famous singer, have long captured the palettes of customers across the Gulf and UK.

Over the years, Bhosle has refined her culinary interests as well as her supreme musical talent. In the same way that her songs have inspired generations, her recipes capture the essence of traditional food. The menu selection includes delicacies from northwest India and Bhosle’s own home specialities. Her visit also marks the pre launch of the “Journey through India” festival which will feature regional dishes from all across India handpicked by her and the chefs.

Asha Bhosle’s journey as a professional musician began in 1944, when at the age of 11 she sang Chala Chala Navabaala for the Marathi film Majha Baal. She completed her golden jubilee in the Indian Film Industry in 1994 with over 13,000 songs to her credit, making her the singer with the most recordings in the world.

In 2010, she was chosen as the Brand Ambassador for the newly instituted Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA), the Indian equivalent of the Grammy Awards, and she was also recently awarded the BBC Lifetime Achievement Award by the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
