Emirates Post has announced four new improved post box service options for individuals, starting January 1, 2012. Personal P.O. Box services for residents of villas are now available in selected areas of Dubai.

Of the four individual P.O. Box bundles, the all-new ‘My Home’ service allows residents of villas to have a personal mail-box installed on their compound wall, so that mail can be delivered directly to and collected from their doorstep. The initial annual rent is AED750, with additional options available for additional fees up to  AED1,550.

So, having the mail delivered to your front door can cost you up to AED2,300 (US $625). Comfort comes with a price tag!

The ‘My Building’ service enables residents of apartments to rent P.O. Boxes in the premises of their building, such as in the lobby or basement, so that they need not leave their building to collect their post.

The third new option ‘My Zone’ delivers post through P.O. Box shelters set up in selected residential and commercial areas that are much closer for customers than outlying post offices.

The ‘My Box’ service refers to the existing post box service where subscribers rent P.O. Boxes at post offices of their choice. This service remains the same, with no changes to its existing structure or rules.

The post boxes bundles have already commenced and are being rolled out throughout the UAE as an annual service, with subscribers choosing their preferred delivery option by visiting an Emirates Post office.

In addition to the advantage of having mail delivered either directly to, or very close to, the home, new value additions include:

  • option to choose mail delivery 3 to 6 times a week;
  • online access to information about incoming mail;
  • temporary mail delivery suspension option during vacations;
  • location of mail boxes through GPS and
  • a facility to retain a P.O. Box number in case of change of address, subject to conditions.
