A RAK FTZ delegation will be visiting Jordan from the 15 to 18 July to conduct a series of seminars and provide comprehensive information targeting medium and large companies as well as business associations. The seminar will take place at the Le Royal Amman Hotel.

One of RAK FTZ’s missions is to build trade relations between Arab countries.  This campaign will open direct channels linking the two countries and ultimately support trade opportunities. RAK FTZ will also conduct a series of B2B meetings with the support of the UAE Embassy in Jordan and the Amman World Trade Centre. The aim of these meetings is to establish communications and collaborations and to introduce new RAK FTZ products to Jordan.

“This is the second time that we are launching a similar campaign in Jordan and we are very optimistic about the results. The first time we were there, we received very positive interest from a lot of sectors. We hope to duplicate and even surpass that initial success,” says Oussama El Omari, RAK FTZ CEO.

The campaign will highlight the ‘Special Business Package’ of USD 5,500 which will allow Jordanian business entrepreneurs to start their international operations within the fast growing RAK Free Trade Zone.  The offer will run until September, 2009.

“Shared facilities are a great solution to entrepreneurs and enterprises who want to test the waters in the Middle East,” says El Omari. “It is cost-effective and yet it offers all the conveniences that a business would need – this includes a license to operate within RAK FTZ, furnished and enclosed office facilities, advanced communication infrastructure and friendly customer service.

RAK FTZ realises the vast potential for partnership across a number of sectors between the two countries. According to the statistics published in 2008 by Ministry of Economy, the value of the imports from Jordan was AED 1,098,447,406 and the growth ratio was 100% between 2004 and 2008. While the exports value to Jordan is AED 277,173,197 and the growth ratio is 220%.  The imported and exported products are mainly live animals and their products, vegetable products and food and beverages. These statistics underline the healthy trade relations between the UAE and Jordan, and the upcoming RAK FTZ campaign will further encourage trade in these and new sectors.

El Omari is optimistic that the ‘Special Business Package’ campaign will encourage Jordanian businessmen to look into the possibility of spreading their wings and taking a step towards globalisation with RAK FTZ.
