New Decree on Hotel Licensing and Classification Issued in Dubai

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued Decree No. 17 of 2013 on hotel licensing and classifying hotel establishments in the Emirate of Dubai.
The decree also defines the specialisations of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) as a competent official body in the emirate entrusted to regulate hotel licensing and classification of hotel establishments. The new decree contributes to raising the standards of high-quality service for hotels in Dubai. Read more

The Al Habtoor Group will host a careers fair for its hotels division on Thursday 9 May, 2013 at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort & Spa in the Al Salat Meeting Room at 3:30pm. It is open to all Emirati applicants. The open day will allow candidates to hand their CVs and job applications directly to the Al Habtoor Group Emiratisation Manager, Fatma Al Haddad. Their credentials will then be reviewed and successful applicants will have ‘on-the-spot’ interviews.

School Holidays Increased Hotel Performance in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in March
A new report released by HotStats has found that this year’s spring school holidays had a very positive effect on the hotels’ performance in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Hotel occupancy in the two emirates was between nearly 82% to about 90% in March 2013. According to the study, that was due the schools’ spring holiday break, as well as the different sports and cultural events that were held in the region last month.

4,700 hotel rooms to be added to Dubai hospitality supply in 2013

The first quarter of 2013 witnessed the addition of approximately 500 branded hotel rooms in the Dubai hospitality market. The openings included Ocean View Hotel on JBR and the extension of the Ritz Carlton also on JBR.
According to Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), approximately 3,500 hotel rooms were added to the Dubai hospitality supply in 2012, representing a growth of 6.5% Y-o-Y. Read more

Hotel developers in the United States spend less due to the increasing costs and dropping profits. Abu Dhabi hotels record double digit growth in February

Abu Dhabi’s 141 hotels and hotel apartments generated double digit growth in guest nights, revenue, occupancy and average-length-of-stay last month with guest arrivals nudging up 7% on the same month last year.
Figures just released by Abu Dhabi Tourism ‘&’ Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), show 196,518 guests stayed in the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartments last month delivering 676,445 guest nights – a 23% rise on February 2012. Read more
