Gearing up for the April 22-23 non-stop two day hackathon, the International Space Apps Challenge invites savvy citizens of all ages skilled in technology, engineering, design, media and more to come together to help solve global and galactic challenges relevant to both life on earth and outer-space exploration. The free 2-day Challenge will take place in Dubai at The Cribb in Al Quoz-1. Space is limited and registration is required.

NASA is on a mission to foster innovation around challenges affecting humanity at home and for our future in space. Space Apps is designed for thinkers, tinkerers, and problem solvers. The 48-hour event inspires teamwork across every skill level and discipline.

Over 200 data sources, including data sets, data services and tools will be available to challenge participants and Dubai scientists, entrepreneurs, students and educators will use them to create apps relevant to space exploration and subjects that impact life on Earth.

The multiple challenges represent NASA mission priorities in areas such as: Earth, Aeronautics, Space Station, Solar System, Journey to Mars, and Technology.

Michelle Mendes, CEO of The Space Education Foundation of Canada, lead sponsor, states, “As Dubai’s inaugural event, we are excited to welcome innovators and problem solvers of all ages to unite to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges. The energy and enthusiasm of Dubai teams will inspire creative solutions to important questions.”

“On behalf of the team at The Cribb, we warmly welcome the Space Apps Challenge! Hackathons generate an amazing number of ideas and impactful solutions while fostering wonderful camaraderie among talented people. After hosting many hackathons as part of our innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem development, we are ready and looking forward to this exciting event!” remarks Catherine Bentley, Chief Marketing Officer.

Participants from all walks of life from across Dubai and Northern Emirates are welcome- anyone interested in varying aspects of space exploration who maintain interest in programming, engineering, design, and business disciplines and who wish to contribute their creativity and talents are encouraged to attend.
