ADNEC bags “Middle East’s Leading Exhibition Centre” honour

ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre) was named “Middle East’s Leading Exhibition Centre” at the World Travel Awards 2011 Middle East ceremony held on Monday night.

Commenting on the award, ADNEC’s Managing Director H.E. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri said that the latest accolade for the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre served to underscore the successful strategies recommended by the ADNEC board of directors.

Receiving the award on behalf of ADNEC, Humaid Al Dhaheri, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer said: “Our second World Travel Award in three years is a testament to ADNEC’s rapid rise in the global events industry. This award is particularly significant as it is voted for thousands of industry professionals from around the world and recognises our industry leadership in what is a very competitive industry.

“In 2010, we witnessed a 24 per cent spurt in the number of events staged over the previous year (2009) and ADNEC would like to remain a magnet for a growing and varied number of events in the coming years,” Al Dhaheri said, stating that the continuing industry recognition for ADNEC was thanks to the collaborative work of the ADNEC board, partners and staff, which had resulted in a redefinition of the region’s events industry.

Hailed as “The Oscars of the Travel Industry”, the World Travel Awards” celebrates brands that are pushing the boundaries of industry excellence. The Awards were first launched in 1993 and are now in their 18th edition. This year votes were cast by 213,000 travel professionals in over 160 countries across the globe. More than 462 organisations across the Middle East spanning more than 125 categories entered the Middle East competition.

This latest recognition award for ADNEC follows other international accolades for the venue including ‘International Venue of the Year’ (2010 AEO awards) and ‘Best International Venue’ (Exhibition News Awards 2010).
