Chefs Daniel Edward, Speciality Sous Chef and Dedy Supriady, Executive Pastry Chef from The Address Downtown Dubai were today awarded the coveted GCC Anchor MasterChef Challenge title for the second year.
The Anchor MasterChef Challenge 2011 and now 2012 winners produced exceptional signature dishes and an outstanding creative menu from a ‘mystery basket’ of ingredients, which included sea bass, baby chicken and Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream, in a competition finale held this week in the Culinarium, Fonterra’s state-of-the-art kitchen in Dubai. A leading name on Asia’s culinary landscape and one of the world’s most awarded chefs – Justin Quek – has signed up for Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 16-day culinary festival running in the UAE capital from February 8-23.

Gourmet Abu Dhabi showcases the talent of international master chefs
Meet Khulood Atiq during the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Awards Gala Dinner
The United Emirates Arab’s first female national chef, Khulood Atiq who participates in Gourmet Abu Dhabi, started her career in 2008 working as an assistant for Chef Ali on his Sama TV television show.
From 2008 to 2010, she held an Emirati-speciality chef position at Mina Al Salam, Jumeirah Group, where she created the Emirati food menu. With years of personal experience and research, Chef Atiq has worked with Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the developer of some of Abu Dhabi’s finest hospitality outlets including the stunning Qasr Al Sarab in the Liwa Desert, on an Emirati cuisine cookbook, which she hopes will help raise international awareness of this highly-traditional type of food. While most of the books recipes have been passed down through generations, Chef Atiq has also created her own authentic dishes using Emirati ingredients, such as dates.
Gourmet Abu Dhabi Culinary Masterclass by Khulood Atiq was held from 9.30am to 11.00am at the Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Fans will have another chance to meet the first female Emirati chef during the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Awards Gala Dinner on 23 February 2012, from 7.00pm to 11.00pm at the Rocco Forte Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
