Many expats dream of celebrating Christmas in a traditional way, but they’re stuck in sunny Dubai for the holidays. However, spending Christmas in Dubai isn’t such a bad idea, especially when the emirate is welcoming it with a huge, three-day fest that will offer all the fun and winter activities you can imagine.

Dubai Christmas Festival is the largest Christmas festival in the UAE and is held for several years now. This year it takes place from 11th through 13th December, of course, at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre in Dubai Media City and according to organizers, it will offer more events and shows than ever before. Its programme includes workshops, games and fun activities for the children, live performances, shopping opportunities and lovely festive food. Among the attractions will be a Crate and Barrel festive store, a newly designed Santa’s Grotto, a bouncy castle, Aladdin and
Genie’s Christmas Pantomime, a reindeer rodeo and penguin bowling.

Kids will love the snowball fight zone, where snow will be falling regularly, as well as Santa’s appearances. The little ones will be able to write their letters to Santa, learn how to decorate gingerbread houses, or spend their time at the ice rink. There will be a giant Christmas tree, as well as a Christmas cookery workshop. The main stage at the fest will include carol singing and performances from school choirs, games and giveaways during the Dubai 92 Road Show, and live music from Dubai-based band Boxtones.

And while all these attractions and entertainment shows are really great for the kids, parents can spend their time in a different way. There will be a Tree Lot, where they can buy Christmas trees, while the Christmas Market will offer everything from decorations to gifts for everyone on their list. Tickets for the fest are now on sale and start from AED 35.
