Samsung Unveiled Galaxy Grand Phablet

Samsung launched a brand new smart device from its Galaxy lineup. The new gadget is a phablet and it is bears the name Galaxy Grand.

The specs of the device reveal that Samsung has created one really innovative product. To begin with, Samsung Grand impresses with a big 5” WVGA TFT screen and a 480×800 resolution.

In addition, the new device is quite powerful. Samsung’s phablet runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. Also, Galaxy Grand has a RAM capacity of 1GB and internal storage of 8GB which can reach a total of 72GB with a memory card.

Samsung’s latest product rocks two cameras. One of them is situated on the back of the device and it supports 8MP as well as a BSI sensor. Also, the rear camera can shoot full HD videos. The other snapper is located in the front of the phablet and it supports 2MP.

Although the device is called “Grand”, it is rather compact – with a weight of 162g and 9.6mm thickness. Samsung’s smartphone-tablet device has a robust 2100mAh battery and Bluetooth 4.0.

In terms of design, Samsung Grand greatly resembles Galaxy S3. The only visible difference is that the phablet is bigger than the smartphone. However, the new device comes with some software improvements and new features. One of them is the so-called multi-window option. With it, users can use two applications at the same time and view them on the same screen. In addition, owners of Samsung Galaxy Grand will be able to open a video in a small window and perform other tasks while they are watching it.

Apart from performing more than one task, Samsung’s phablet can also use two SIM cards at the same time. The Korean company has not stated that there will be a single-SIM model of the device. Despite that, Galaxy Grand has Data and Smart Voice applications. In addition, the smart product comes with other apps like Chat On and All Share.

In addition, Galaxy Grand supports a new service developed by Samsung – My Service. It will enable users to use different media libraries. The libraries are divided into different categories. They include over 2000 movies, nearly 1300 books (both text and video), 150 assignment papers, as well as over 100 TV channels.

Samsung Galaxy Grand will be first released in India, where it will hit the stores in February.
