Social media users do not only tag themselves and their friends on the photos they post, they also tag the spots they visit. Imagine the jealousy of all your imaginary Facebook friends when they glance at your update informing the world you  just have entered into the place where they so much want to be. As silly as it seems, it works for many individuals and businesses.

A list of the most geo-tagged locations on social media was recently released and The Dubai Mall is also mentioned on it. The most visited shopping mall in the world debuted on the ranking by landing on the 10th position. Currently, there are over 90,000 photos posted on Instagram alone tagged from The Dubai Mall.

However, the most geo-tagged shopping facility in the world this year is actually Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. It is has accumulated more than 450,000 tags so far. That is enough to place it on the 4th spot on this list. Although this sounds quite impressive for a shopping mall, last year, Siam Paragon was the location that headed this ranking.

The first position this year goes to Disneyland, Anaheim, California. Last year, it took the 3rd place, followed by Florida’s Disney World. In 2014, however, it is the only Disney representative on the list.

One of the cities with the most geo-tagged locations by social media users is New York. The Big Apple has a total of three locations that made it to 2014’s top 10. Those include Times Square (3), Madison Square Garden (8), as well as Yankee Stadium (9). Together, they have contributed to millions of photos shared by travellers on their social media accounts.

Moscow also did a great job with two representatives on this year’s ranking. Gorky Park and Red Square were among the most captivating sights in the Russian capital for social media users in 2014.
