Amazon Identifies 2014 Holiday Shopping Trends

Amazon released a list of all the hottest holiday shopping trends based on the feedback of costumers. In addition, the company shared how it plans to fulfill its clients’ wishes and demands during the upcoming Black Friday sale and ahead of it.

Trend 1 – Growth of Mobile Shopping

An increasing number of people rely on their mobile gadgets for online shopping. The retailer has found that during the last holiday season, more than 50% of its customers have made their orders via a mobile device. Only between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday 2013, the speed with which shoppers purchased toys from Amazon.com reportedly reached 5 toys per second.

Solution – So, how will Amazon cope with the rise of the mobile consumer? The company has decided to introduce voice and visual search, which will allow mobile users to find the items they need faster than ever. These new options will reduce the process mobile shopping time to just seconds.

Trend 2 – Same-Day Delivery

Online shoppers love the idea of ordering a product and receiving it at their doorsteps by the end of the day. Amazon predicts, that Black Friday deals with same-day delivery will enjoy particular attention from consumers.

Solution – Amazon has increased its same-day delivery scope. Also, this season, the largest online retailer will offer over a million products with a same-day delivery option. Among them will also be some of the top-rated gifts and entertainment products.

Trend 3 – Exclusive Access

All shoppers are equal, but some are more equal than others?? Amazon has discovered that consumers enjoy having early or exclusive access to holiday deals and promotions. Prime Members feel privileged being offered a 30 minutes head start at MyHabit.com, for example.

Solution – Prime members now have early access to its Lightning Deals. These are Amazon.com’s limited-time offers and that is why it is often a challenge to make the most of them. By having an early access to these deals, Prime members will be one step ahead of the other shoppers who have not opted for Prime Membership.

Trend 4 – Discovery and Shop on Social Media

More and more people use social media as a main tool for discovering hot deals. Others rely on social platforms when they want to share a bargain deal with their friends or family.

Solution – Amazon will enable Twitter users not only to discover hot holiday offers on this social network, but to actually shop directly from it. Twitterers will have the opportunity to put an Amazon product in their shopping card or on their Amazon Wish List without even leaving their Twitter feed. All they need to do it rely to a Tweet containing a link to the item they want with a hashtag #AmazonCart if they want to add it to their cart or #AmazonWishList if they prefer to include it on their wish list.

Trend 5 – Shopping for Good

During the holiday season, people do not simply want to shop at the best price. They also want to spread some love and help those who are need. That is part of the Christmas spirit.

Solution – The online retailer will continue to offers its AmazonSmile initiative. Through it, part of purchase price of the products Amazon consumers buy, will go to their favourite charity organization.

Amazon concludes that these five shopping trends show that consumers now want to shop faster and smarter than ever before.
