The 5th Dubai International Dance Festival, (DIDF) 2012 is a 4-day dance festival, set to rock the city in October

At a Press Conference held earlier in Holiday Inn, Al Barsha, the organizers shared the details. The Festival is meant to be a platform for dance enthusiasts from around the world. DIDF is going to be a platform to interact with trained and reputed artists from all over the world covering various genres like Salsa, Zumba, Latin, Contemporary, Bollywood, Hip-hop, Freestyle, Funk and more.

The event features a grand venue, DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates, high-energy dance workshops, riveting performances, glittering party nights. Renowned dancing stars from 40 countries will come down to share their expertise and passion for dance with everyone.

“This is the only event of its kind in the region,” said Chris D., Co-Director and Co-Founder of the DIDF. “We started with just 50 performing artists and this year we have crossed the 400 mark. Also, last year, almost 600 people attended the workshops. This year, we are expecting more than 1,000 enthusiasts from not only the region but from all over the world.”

The event is for anybody and everybody. Be it kids or adults, beginner or professional, anyone and everyone will be to be able to interact and learn from the crème-de-la-crème of the world of dance.

“There has been a significant growth in the number of local talent in the last few years of the DIDF,” said Sara Sharouf, Event Coordinator. “Through the festival, one also gets to witness some new forms of dance from other
parts of the world. For example, Kizomba is still new and lesser known in the Middle East. We will be showcasing this form of dance through some international dancers.”

The DIDF is in its 5th successful year of its making news in the Middle East. It has, in the past, shortened the distances between countries, beliefs, cultures and has been hailed as a means to provide a platform where everyone will be consumed by the common passion for dance.

“We are very proud to be part of a wonderful cultural initiative as the official hospitality partner of this year’s festival. We look forward to hosting all these talented artists and entertaining Dubai party goers at The Q Underground on 18th and 19th October.” said JS Anand, General Manager of Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha.
