Only in a day Apple Inc. received more than one million pre-orders for the iPhone 4S.  That accounts to 67 percent more than for the previous version of the mobile device.

Demand for the phone is a tribute to the Steve Jobs legacy, the iPhone 4S is the last phone developed with him at the company.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S last week, pricing it at $199, $299 and $399, depending on the features. The device comes with new voice-command features and a higher-resolution camera.

It has an A5 chip that will make graphics seven times faster than the old processor and an “intelligent antenna system” for improved call quality. The phone works with both CDMA and GSM wireless standards, used in different parts of the world, and will have up to 8 hours of talk time on one charge.

Official Release Date Oct. 14

Customers in UAE should check Apple’s online store dedicated to them, as the authorized retailers are usually slower on stocking.
