For the 7th consecutive year, Jumeirah Group is teaming up with Mercato for the annual Dubai Summer Surprises event known as the Jumeirah Giant Charity Cake Sale, in support of Dubai Autism Center.

More than 60 executive pastry chefs from Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts have teamed up to prepare an exquisite display of 2255 mouthwatering cakes, to celebrate DSS sweet surprises. This number of cakes represents the total number of rooms provided by Jumeirah Group’s Dubai Hotels & Resorts.

The Jumeirah Giant Charity Cake Sale will take place on Friday 9th July from 3.00pm – 10.00pm at Mercato. The evening will feature a variety of scrumptious cakes consisting of many flavors, designs and sizes, with choices to satisfy everyone’s taste. Each cake will be sold for Dhs 30 and all proceeds will be donated to Dubai Autism Center.

Andy Cuthbert, General Manager of Jumeirah Bab Al Shams, said: “The Jumeirah Giant Cake Sale is one of our favourite events of the year.  With great support from the general public Jumeirah Giant Cake Sale held annually in Mercato is enjoyed by all.  Raising over AED 50,000 Jumeirah Giant Cake Sale is a light hearted way to support one of our community’s greatest cause – Autism – and more specifically Dubai Autism Center.”

Rana Jaser, PR & Corporate Communication Manager of Mercato added: “The concept of shopping malls in Dubai has always gone beyond merely shopping. Joining in the efforts of the local authorities, Mercato always host educational campaigns that aim to raise awareness of important matters for the community. Additionally, various charity initiatives constantly take place in the mall in order to educate the public and support those in need for help.

We are glad to –once again – team up with Jumeirah Group to host this event in Mercato this DSS. The event has been a great success in the past. Year after year, this event gains more popularity and our customers always look forward to it. Last year, Mercato received thousands of visitors more than what actually was expected, and all cakes were sold out by 9 pm. We are always happy to involve the Dubai Autism Center, and we hope that this event will continue to add to these efforts.”
