What to Do This Weekend in Dubai

This weekend Dubai is the place to be, especially if you are into shopping. Ramadan is still on, but the city never fails to offer residents and visitors a variety of events. This weekend makes no exception! There will be some sport, some art and a lot of shopping. After all, Dubai is known as a shopping hub, so you can’t really be surprised by that. The interesting thing about the upcoming shopping events is that they will take place during the night!

The first of them Edina Night Bazar. This is actually an annual event which is organized during Ramadan. This year it will start on August 1st and continue for three day until August 3rd – this weekend in Dubai. At the bazar, you will be able to find pretty much anything. That is because many exhibitors tend to participate in it. However, the highlights of this year’s Edina Night Bazar will definitely be fashion products and particularly bridal wear. In addition, there will be a lot of jewelry to choose from, as well as beauty products for the ladies. The event will take place at Jordanian Club in Dubai. It is open to the public and the entry is free. The bazar starts at 9pm and it closes at 2am.

Ramadan-Night-MarketThe next nighttime shopping event is Ramadan Night Market 2013. It will make its comeback in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai World Trade Centre. At the market, you will have the chance to purchase products not only from local retailers, but also from companies from all over the world. That means that visitors will experience a great cultural diversity and a big product choice. Ramadan Night Market 2013 opens this weekend in Dubai, on Saturday, and it will close on August 10th. During Ramadan, it will start at 8pm and close at 2am, while during Eid, it will open at 5pm and close at midnight. Again, visitors will not be required to pay an entrance fee. So, if you are looking for Eid gifts for your family and friends, you can do your shopping at these night markets.

Both professional athletes and sport enthusiasts can participate at Dubai Desert Road Run this weekend in Dubai. The event presents an opportunity to be more physically active this weekend. Both adults and youngsters can join the race. Everyone over the age of 14 can participate in a 10km race. There will also be a junior race with a 3km race. Participants aged between 6 and 18 can take part in different categories of races, including a fun 3km one. Dubai Desert Road Run will take place this Friday, on August 2nd and it will start at 7am. Those, who want to participate in the races, need to pay an admission tax between AED40 and AED80, depending on the challenge they want to take on. In addition, they will need to register at the official website of the event. It is a good excuse to put your trainers on and check your fitness progress!

During the weekend, there should always be a place for some art and culture. The Captivating Calligraphy Exhibition is a combination of both of these things. Therefore, it is a must-visit. It opens this Saturday (August 3rd) and it will continue for nearly a month. The exhibition will display calligraphic artworks of artists like Ahmed Khan, Noreen Akhtar, Tahir Bin and Arif Khan. So, if you are an art lover or are not familiar with the magic of calligraphy, you are highly advised to visit this event. It will be held in Al Badia Golf Course’ Art Couture from 10am to 10pm starting this Saturday.

As you can see, there is no way you will be bored this weekend in Dubai. The city is always filled with life and events to stir it up!
