New edition of guidelines will assist a greater number of investors

Dubai Land Department ( DLD ) has for the first time issued an English language version of its real estate legislation guidelines that outlines laws relating to property in Dubai. The latest edition of the department’s booklet, which has previously only been available in Arabic, aims to spread awareness of real estate legalities in

Dubai and assist all parties who are involved in investment in the sector.

“At DLD we are aware of the need for tenants, landlords and investors of different nationalities to understand the real estate laws relating to their activities,” said Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, DLD . “Based on our commitment to establishing a transparent real estate environment, the updated version of our booklet that details the laws and regulations relating real estate activity in Dubai is now available in English as well as Arabic.”

Bin Mejren stated that the real estate legislation booklet acts as a useful reference tool for DLD customers wanting to understand their rights and obligations. Among others he said who would benefit from the new English language version are property developers, legal consultants and real estate offices, as well as investment companies and institutions that are looking to enter the market to launch projects in Dubai.

“This year, we issued an English copy of the booklet of real estate laws to serve a large number of our non-Arabic customers – a client demographic that is set to increase significantly in the wake of Dubai winning the right to host Expo 2020,” said Bin Mejren.
The 2014 version of DLD ‘s real estate legal guidelines includes 17 local laws issued by the Dubai government from 2006-2013. The booklet is available free of charge from the DLD headquarters in Dubai, or if preferred, can be downloaded from the DLD website: (www.dubailand.gov.ae)
