Dress for Fun, was an unique expression of Culture & Creativity, through costumes. The 1st of its kind ever, this was a Fancy Dress with a difference. It was not just for kids, young brigade but also for parents & grandparents. The 2 day extravaganza was held on 9th & 10th April 2011 at Lamcy Plaza. The event was championed by Lamcy Plaza, inspired by Radio 4 & conceptualised by Big Idea.

The evening started with the young toddlers taking the centre stage, dressed up in colorful costumes. Each one of them conveyed a message through their costumes ranging from the importance of following the traffic signal to creating awareness on environmental issues which left the audience filled with emotions.

‘There is a child in every adult & this initiative was to bring out the child in them through this expressive platform’ said Reena Banerjee, Idea Director & Founder at Big Idea.

‘Often Fancy Dress is thought to be an event for the kids. We at Lamcy Plaza wanted to take the initiative to do this 1st of its kind concept based Fancy Dress not just for kids but for parents & grandparents as well’ said Sunil Bharadwaj, Vice President at Lamcy Plaza.

The evening reached its zenith with the parents presenting their innovative concepts through costumes amidst huge cheering from the kids & the audience. ‘We are delighted to have received a platform like this at this age to participate in a Fancy Dress in front of our kids’ said Dr.Shabana, a doctor by profession. Her emotionally packed performance as a joker on the Mera Naam Joker song – ‘Jeena Hahan Marna Yahan brought tears to the eyes of the audience. It’s a dream come true for parents like us said Dr. Shabana after her performance.

What better way to bring a smile to the face of our kids and make them feel proud than by sharing the stage with them, said Preet another parent participant in Dress for Fun.

‘I was so excited to help my Mom dress up for the occasion’, said one of the kids. She looks so pretty dressed as Charlie Chaplin.

The fun filled evening ended with the Awards Ceremony and every participant was acknowledged for their memorable performance and expression of creativity & culture through costume.
