AEEDC Dubai will start on February 1st 2011 running for three consecutive days, and while lots of scientific and business activities are taking place this year, AEEDC Conference and Exhibition will not be like any of the previous editions. The program is filled with outstanding courses, workshops and symposiums that will add to the experience and knowledge of each participant.

Dr. Nasser Malik, Chairman of AEEDC Dubai Conference said : “we are expecting more than 20,000 participating dentists from the region and different parts of the world, therefore, the AEEDC Scientific Advisory Committee and with the support of the Dubai Health Authority prepared a full three days schedule, where dentists and students can receive the maximum benefit of this practice. The program is comprehensive, and features the latest advances and research in the various specialties of Dentistry; it will be a platform where most eminent speakers from around the globe will share their expertise with our audience.”

The Dubai World Dental Meeting (DWDM)

Every year, the scientific committee of AEEDC organizes three days pre-conference courses where dentists can learn and participate in hands-on courses led by the leaders from the dental community. The DWDM is a continuing education program that brings together practice, research, and academia, in addition to industry leaders from every corner of dental profession.

“The DWDM program is designed for dentists who aspire to improve themselves and develop their skills in order to meet the commitments of their everyday professional life. The sessions provide an ideal environment for the entire dental team, with topics covering Implantology, Endodontics, Orthodontic, Restorative Dentistry, Infection Prevention & Control and Dental Clinic Management. More than 300 participants have already booked their places in these sessions. The DWDM brings more comprehensive approach to the AEEDC Dubai, and tackles numerous aspects including; business development, staff development, and paradental.” Said Dr. Nasser

The DWDM will start at the end of January 2011, where a total of 34 credit hours will be offered for the three days program. The credit hours were granted by prominent educational and health institutes, worth mentioning; Dubai Health Authority and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

The “AEEDC Specialty Meeting” 2011 dedicated two days for Periodontology and Implantology. Speakers will discuss current trends in soft tissue grafts, and when is the right time to place an implant in addition to other related specialized topics.

AEEDC Conference

After 15 years of evolutionary increase in size, content, and participation, the AEEDC Conference has become one of the world’s top International scientific meetings. The conference and its other educational scientific activities dedicated a total of 49 credit hours this year.

The scientific committee at AEEDC Conference has worked hard on the topics included during the conference, and they dedicated three halls at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre for that purpose. Dr. Nasser Malik says: “We managed to cover all specialties and organized them into blocks of lectures, so it would be easier for dentists to choose the topics that suit their specialty. We have also introduced new ideas this year, and there are many activities taking place, so the doctors who are coming to Dubai for this purpose, would have multiple choices of activities and therefore obtain the maximum benefit”.

The Number of Speakers at the AEEDC conference Exceeds 110, Covering More than 105 Lectures, 8 Workshops and 20 Advanced Speciality Courses.

One of the new concepts introduced during the specialty courses is the “Essentials of Private Dental Practice”. This course will discuss the basic essential skills needed to run a successful clinic; it will also illustrate the practical side, the clinical side and the scientific side of dentistry. The course is divided into two parts, the first part will introduce dentists to basic communication with dental laboratory and the skills needed to provide proper prosthesis for their patients. The second part will train dentist on basic care and maintenance of their dental equipments, this will help dentist fix and repair any failed equipment until proper care and maintenance is done, thus preventing patient cancellations and loss of profit.

The “Essentials of Private Dental Practice Course” is an excellent opportunity for all dentists including myself to learn more about our profession from the business and technical sides. If something goes wrong with one of the tools I’m using and there is a patient waiting, I can take some time to fix it instead of waiting for the technician to come and reschedule my patient’s appointment. This course will give us the chance as dentists to learn about business aspects, and managerial skills in addition to scientific information in order to run a successful private practice.”

The “AEEDC Advanced Speciality Courses” will provide advanced and updated theoretical and methodological approaches concerning the topics of the speciality, and systematic and comprehensive knowledge on the main and current theories in regards to different subjects of interest. It will also enhance the practical expertise of the dental specialists and build a knowledge platform among qualified specialists across the globe not to mention the opportunity to gain extra CME points.

For the second consecutive year in AEEDC, the scientific committee is introducing the GCC Preventive Dentistry Conference. However, the scientific program embraces three new major symposiums for the first time; the IADT symposium, the CAD/CAM technology forum, and the Micro CT forum. In addition, there are more activities taking place such as AEEDC Dubai Awards, AEEDC student competition, poster and oral presentations, workshops and more.

The IADT Symposium in Oral Traumatology

The International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) is a professional dental organization that aims to promote optimal prevention and treatment service in the field of traumatic dental injuries. Dentists who attend to this symposium can benefit from the knowledge shared and meet many of the world experts in traumatology, as Oral trauma has been a frequent incident that all dentists encounter during their practice. Fourteen regional and international speakers are coming to participate in this symposium, and illustrate the latest measures adopted in dentoalveolar fracture cases.

AEEDC Dubai will feature for the first time the Dental future Management courses dedicated for newly graduated dentists. “Young dentists face some challenges while making a suitable and stable financial income through practicing dentistry in a traditional way. This course will present different out of the box models in the Dental Health Care Projects which can support young dentists and help them make calculated decisions and open new windows for innovative ideas in the field of dentistry”. Said Dr. Nasser
