Emirates to Add A340-500 Aircraft on Tripoli Route

Africa 4 Dubai-based carrier Emirates (www.emirates.com) reaffirmed its commitment to Libya today, announcing that it will introduce its Airbus A340-500 on the Tripoli route.

From 1st August 2010, Emirates will offer a total of 3,612 seats per week between Tripoli and Dubai representing an increase of nine percent in passenger capacity.

“Demand for our services to Libya has been steadily building so the addition of the A340-500 will not only increase capacity but will also enhance the customer experience when travelling on this route,” said Haitham Al Battawy, Emirates Manager Libya.

“The introduction of aircraft will facilitate travel for scores of Libyan nationals who reside in Dubai and Australia and visit home each year.” “The aircraft addition will also offer travellers from North African markets seamless connections to the Far East, the GCC, the Indian subcontinent and Australian destinations via Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, designed for optimum travelling comfort,” he added.

Emirates’ A340-500 aircraft offers 12 First Class Suites, 42 Business class and 204 Economy class seats, alongside 15 tonnes of cargo-carrying capacity. “Our Economy Class passengers can expect the same high level of comfort and service as First and Business class passengers,” stated Al Battawy. “Our ergonomically designed seats, extra legroom and superior service ensure that Emirates’ Economy class travel stands out from the competition.”

Passengers in all class levels can enjoy Emirates award-winning ICE entertainment system, which includes more than 600 channels of on-demand entertainment, including 50 new movie releases, more than 20 movie classics and 20 children’s films. A large number of Arabic, Hindi and other world cinema films are also available.
