Prof Dr. Adil Al Tamimi, Department of Civil Engineering at the American University of Sharjah; and Mehmet Ozlokmaci, Manager – Floor Division for Fars Al Mazrooei Contracting.

The event will bring together all the top industry leaders and decision makers for the logistics, warehousing and flooring industries and cover such topics as design aspects, pre-construction planning, logistics centres, warehouses, high tolerance and heavy duty industrial floors as well as design and construction guidelines.

Lars E Larsson, 18 years experience in concrete design and concrete additives/admixtures, ex-chairman of the Swedish Business Council, said; “The concrete flooring industry is becoming increasingly important in the region, with level of trade increasing and with that the importance of logistics operations. This means faster and more effective distribution. The warehousing services have become of paramount interest and crucial to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain. Warehouse flooring in the UAE is subject to extreme conditions, not only from increased weight from racking, heavy machine movement and demand for super flatness, but also from extremes of temperature and humidity and the high levels of chlorides and sulphates in the soil and air. It is therefore of crucial importance that the concrete is well designed, distributed, levelled, cured and well maintained.”

In addition to concrete flooring solutions, Fars Al Mazrooei offer turnkey design and built capabilities for green building logistic centre / warehouse projects which are critical parts of the innovative warehouse design process. The company pioneers the use of the Somero laser screed machine, which is the largest one in the Middle East and used for automated concrete floor leveling and compaction and Fars Al Mazrooei also recently completed the first commercial LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) Platinum rated ESAB Middle East project (incl. warehouse floor) as a main contractor in Jebel Ali Free Zone, South ,Dubai.

“Green logistics and LEED certified projects are becoming increasingly visible and important in this part of the world. The Concrete Flooring Solutions Seminar will investigate ways in which to minimise the impact on the environment from the logistics / warehousing industry and we feel this will work positively to raise awareness of corporate social responsibility practices.” Larsson added.
