Institute for Vocational Development’s workshop on project management explains adaptability across business

Project Management, once limited to the construction and IT sectors, is now highly effective to the simplest of business projects spanning different organisational departments, said the director of the Institute for Vocational Development (IVD), a member of Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG).

An interactive workshop entitled “The Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Managing Projects (CAM2P™)” held on 24th February at the Abu Dhabi University, brought together practitioners, experts, executives, project and programme managers from diverse sectors involved or interested in project management and enhancing their organisations’ project performance. The workshop, which was jointly organised by IVD and SUKAD™ FZ-LLC, an established executive education centre that specialises in project management, tackled the strategic importance of project management and its core capability across industries in the UAE.

The event focused on SUKAD’s CAM2P Model for effective project management which gave participants a demonstration on how project management can be customised on organisational requirements and adaptable to project type or class.

“Project management is no longer limited to construction and technology projects and it is useful and highly effective for simple business projects for human resources, marketing and finance. IVD offers the widest range of vocational training programmes in the region through our international accredited partners particularly on project management,” said Richard Firth, Director of IVD.

“Our partnership with SUKAD, as a leading provider in the Middle East with global expertise, allows us to provide organisations an extensive expertise and practical know-how on project management. Through the one-day workshop, our consultants showed a paradigm shift from the current conventional thinking about project management to a simpler and more practical approach for managing projects,” he added.

The workshop provided participants the strategic value of project management and its crucial effect on business organisations, understanding the importance of certification and its limitations as well as the relevance of project management in all industries and life projects. In addition, the workshop discussed the highly valuable concepts and the need for customisation and adaptability of project management to various situations and scenarios.

The first half of the workshop included a mix of presentations as well as open and extended group discussions. The second half was practical applications of the theories presented whereby participants were grouped according to sector and work. The groups customised the model based on their own industry applications and requirements.

The SUKAD CAM2P model is currently being offered by IVD on a complimentary basis to large organisations interested in implementing project management solutions to enhance their performance.

SUKAD is an approved Registered Education Provider (R.E.P) with Project Management Institute (PMI) authorised to issue Professional Development Units (PDU) for its training course.  Courses offered by SUKAD are pre-approved in fulfilment of certification eligibility requirements, as well as PDUs to fulfil the Project Management Professional (PMP®) Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR).
