New controls banning all light reflective paints, films, stickers on all cars

The cordinative committee on traffic control at the interior ministry has started considering the enacting of new regulations, controls and fines to enforce a ban on the use of chrome, silver and golden thermal reflective films and paints and stickers on all vehicles.

The ban on the said films and paints which are in violation the federal traffic law No.21/1995 is in line with directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior Lt. General Said Al-Sha’afar said the Minister’s instructions are aimed at protecting the lives of drivers and the safety of the roads nationwide.

The Ministry called on all drivers, including those who were already granted permission to use such films and paints on their cars, to immediately remove them to comply with the safety regulations therefore preventing danger of reflecting the sunlight and glare other drivers’ eyes.
“According to the regulations, drivers have to consult the relevant licensing authorities before using any such paints and stickers on their vehicles,” explained Head of the Traffic Coordination Department Colonel Ghaith Al-Za’abi said.
Drivers who were already granted permission to use such films and paints, he added, have also to remove these films and paints off their cars, he stressed.
Campaigns to raise awareness on the new regulations and controls will be intensified in the coming few days, he noted.
