The Dubai Mall hosts 54 million visitors in 2011

• Surpasses annual tourist arrivals to New York City in 2011
• Annual footfall to the mall grew about 15% in 2011 compared with 2010

 The Dubai Mall achieved a record-smashing year in 2011 to become the world’s most-visited shopping and leisure destination, welcoming more than 54 million visitors in 2011. The number of visitors in 2011 is about 15% higher than the 47 million visitors in 2010.

The number of visitors to The Dubai Mall is more than the number of annual tourists to New York City in 2011, reported at 50.2 million¹. The visitor numbers exceed the annual visitors to Las Vegas – expected to welcome 39.2 million people in 2011² and Los Angeles at 26.3 million3 and also surpasses the visitor arrivals to all landmark leisure destinations and theme parks in the world including Times Square (39.2 million); Central Park (38 million); and Niagara Falls (22.5 million) among others.4 Read more

New Dubai Mall Metro Links

The Dubai Mall, the flagship development of Emaar Malls Group and the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, has launched a project to build a 820-metre long pedestrian link that directly connects the Burj Khalifa/The Dubai Mall Metro Station with the iconic attractions in Downtown Dubai, including the mall and Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Scheduled to be operational in 2013, ‘The Dubai Mall Metro Links’ is one of the longest pedestrian walkways that links the Dubai Metro with any retail development, and is expected to significantly enhance the convenience of visitors to the mall and Burj Khalifa. The Dubai Mall marks UAE’s 40th National Day with unique ‘Bidaya’

The Dubai Fountain to perform to UAE National Anthem

To mark the 40th UAE National Day celebrations, The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain lining the waterfront promenade of The Dubai Mall, will perform to the UAE National Anthem from December 1 to 3, every day at 1pm, 7pm, 9pm and 11pm.

The Dubai Fountain, located in Downtown Dubai, the flagship development of Emaar Properties, overlooking Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is over 900 ft (275 metres) in length – equivalent to that of over two football fields.

Over 6,600 lights and 25 colour projectors create a visual spectrum of over 1,000 different water expressions that appeal to visitors. Different combinations of water-forms of The Dubai Fountain perform to selected musical pieces – chosen from a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music. Read more
