Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, is marking the UAE’s 40th National Day with a first of its kind initiative, ‘Bidaya,’ to promote Emirati youth talent.
Flagging off on December 1, 2011 at the Lower Ground area of the mall, Bidaya continues through Dec. 4, and will subsequently be hosted every alternative week. It will serve as a veritable showcase of the UAE national talent across various sectors – from arts to culture and innovative thinking by the country’s youth. Read more

All Star-lights wore U.A.E. National dress or dressed up in the colours of the UAE flag (Red/Green/White/Black).
Special assembly was held by the principal Miss Dolly Goriawala, which featured Holy Qur’an recitation, pledge of the U.A.E., poems, songs and Arabic dancing by students and UK and Irish teachers. The event finally ended with the students singing the National Anthem with pride and raising their U.A.E. Flags in the air.
Primary and secondary students thoroughly enjoyed themselves shouting “we love the U.A.E.” and waving their U.A.E. flags. The parents also joined in and walked with the students, whilst cars passing by sounded their horns and some stopped watched and took pictures of the children enjoying themselves.
Star International’s teachers and students have drawn a map of the U.A.E. on a large canvas – 4 metres. The map has been divided into Flag colours. FS1, FS2 and Year 1 students did their finger-prints in the red colour. Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 did their finger-prints in the green colour and Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 did their finger-prints in the black colour. This will be displayed in the school as a commemorative to the 40th National Day.
