Dubai Customs plans to increase number of customers’ parking lots

Dubai Customs plans to increase the parking lots designated for customers at its main building in Port Rashid to 513 instead of 258 lots to foster clients` needs and meet the growing increase in the number of customers and visitors.

The move comes in conjunction with the imminent completion of the multi-storey parking project being constructed by Dubai Customs in area of 15.7 thousand square meters accommodating 600 vehicles that intended to be designated for employees while the current 255 staff parking lots would be allotted for customers and visitors use. RTA will remove vehicles with with more than two years expired licenses from Dubai roads

The Roads ‘&’ Transport Authority (RTA) will start writing-off vehicles whose registration had expired two or more years ago, effective October 2010. The decision is prompted by the need to maintain the safety of road users in Dubai Emirate as well as realizing RTA vision of providing Safe ‘&’ Smooth Transport for All.

Commenting on the move, the Director of RTA Licensing Agency Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan stated that RTA would embark on writing-off and removing vehicles whose licenses had expired two or more years back from Dubai roads as of next October in order to maintain the safety and security of road users in the Emirate. Emirates’ Economy Class passengers residing in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi can save themselves a busload of hassle as Emirates increases the frequency of its free of charge bus service, to and from Emirates Terminal 3 in Dubai.

The new frequencies have been implemented to help passengers reach Emirates Terminal 3 conveniently and with no added stress. New decree to regulate the use of roads and federal facilities

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, today has issued a new decree for organizing the use of federal roads and facilities.

DP World delivers throughput of 24 million for the first six months of 2010, 16% growth on 2009

Global marine terminal operator DP World today announced it handled 23.7 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) across its portfolio of 50[1] operating terminals in the first six months of 2010, an increase of 16% against the same period last year and ahead of 2008.

Despite the tough comparative period, due to the resilience our portfolio showed in 2009, the consolidated terminals have continued to build on the growth reported in the first quarter of the year. Volumes in the first half have grown 7% to 13.2 million TEU or, on a like for like[3] basis, by 10%. Read more

Aramex (DFM: ARMX), the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, today announced its second quarter earnings for the three months ending June 30, 2010. The company reported net profits of AED 55 million, a 10% increase over the AED 50 million posted in the corresponding period of 2009. UPS 2Q earnings soar 71% on 13% revenue growth

Full-Year Guidance Raised; 2010 EPS Expected to Climb 45-50%

UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced diluted earnings per share of $0.84 for the second quarter of 2010, a 71% jump over the adjusted earnings of the prior-year period. Global revenue increased 13%, generating a 57% increase in operating profit to $1.4 billion.

On a reported basis, diluted earnings per share increased 91% over the $0.44 in the second quarter of 2009. Read more

Revised working hours for Dubai Metro and Paid Parking zones during Ramadan

The Dubai Metro service hours during the holy month of Ramadan will start from 6am and continue until 1am (after midnight) during weekdays, and from 2pm to 1am on Fridays, according the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The working hours of paid parking zones during Ramadan are also revised, with the morning session remaining as it is (from 8am to 1pm), but the evening session will start from 7pm to 12am (midnight), thus maintaining the same number of hours set for using parking zones in the evening session without any increase.
