The Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink has strengthened the fun spectrum with the ‘Football Mania 2010’ – a unique opportunity for football enthusiasts to watch the matches live on a huge high-definition LED screen of size 20 metres by 10 metres at the coolest spot in the city.

There is much fun in store for the entire family during the entire football season with an assortment of activities tailored to keep all visitors engaged. SEGA Republic at The Dubai Mall sets new benchmark in indoor entertainment

SEGA Republic, the Middle East’s first and largest of its kind indoor theme park, managed by Emaar Retail at The Dubai Mall, is setting new benchmarks in indoor entertainment with a never-before array of amusement games and thrilling rides.

SEGA Republic recently celebrated the overwhelming public response since its opening in August 2009 by hosting SEGA Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr Hajime Satomi. SEGA Republic, a 76,000 sq ft indoor theme park, is opening its gates on Friday (August 21, 2009) at The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination.

The newest leisure attraction at the mall, SEGA Republic has been developed by Emaar Retail in association with Japan-based SEGA Corporation. SEGA Corporation is the creator of numerous world-renowned video games such as the Sonic the Hedgehog series and is currently one of the global leaders in high-tech entertainment.

The theme park is designed to meet the expectations of the adrenaline-loving youth of the region, but is also a great place for parents to have a fun day out with their children. Visitors can look forward to over 150 amusement games that will appeal to all.

The ‘spin’ of your life awaits at the soon-to-open SEGA Republic’s bespoke attraction, SPIN GEAR. The 76,000 sq ft indoor family theme park at The Dubai Mall is currently in the final phases of testing this heart-stopping ride which promises to be eye-popping, hair-raising fun!

SPIN GEAR is an inimitable rollercoaster experience replete with sound and special visual effects. It occupies the largest floor space within SEGA Republic, spanning over 16,145 sq ft – more than 20 per cent of the total area. SPIN GEAR has a total track length of 380 metres and a maximum track height of 13.55 metres. Its array of spins and accelerations will deliver a truly exhilarating experience for adventurous and fun-loving guests at the park.

A total of 400 people per hour can enjoy the ride, which is billed to be one of the most popular attractions at SEGA Republic.

SEGA Republic prepares staff for imminent opening with intensive training sessions

SEGA Republic, the 76,000 sq ft indoor theme park in The Dubai Mall, is readying to open soon, with intensive training sessions for the operating team currently underway. The largest SEGA Republic theme park of its kind in the Middle East region has laid out the physical infrastructure with only finishing touches to be completed.

The focus has now moved on to training the SEGA Republic team of over 125 staff spanning various nationalities to ensure a superior leisure experience for all guests. The extensive training programme covers all aspects of guest service as well as intensive instruction on the advanced gaming technologies featured in the theme park’s nine heart-stopping attractions and 250-plus amusement games. At the end of the programme, each participant will undergo a detailed practical and written assessment designed to ensure that he or she can deliver the high standard of service required. Read more
