Running in its 4th edition, Gourmet Abu Dhabi continues to mesmerize  lovers of fine food in Abu Dhabi. Most of the participating hotels and the restaurants in the capital are fully booked.

Asia’s Lion Chef set for Gourmet Abu Dhabi

A leading name on Asia’s culinary landscape and one of the world’s most awarded chefs – Justin Quek – has signed up for Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 16-day culinary festival running in the UAE capital from February 8-23.

Chef Quek, the architect and author of Franco-Asian cuisine, will be starring in gourmet promotions at the signature Pan Asian Quest restaurant on Level 63 of the newly-opened, five star Jumeirah at Etihad Towers on Abu Dhabi Corniche from February 19-22,during Gourmet Abu Dhabi. Read more

Gourmet Abu Dhabi showcases the talent of international master chefs

Meet Khulood Atiq during the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Awards Gala Dinner

The United Emirates Arab’s first female national chef, Khulood Atiq who participates in Gourmet Abu Dhabi, started her career in 2008 working as an assistant for Chef Ali on his Sama TV television show.

From 2008 to 2010, she held an Emirati-speciality chef position at Mina Al Salam, Jumeirah Group, where she created the Emirati food menu. With years of personal experience and research, Chef Atiq has worked with Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the developer of some of Abu Dhabi’s finest hospitality outlets including the stunning Qasr Al Sarab in the Liwa Desert, on an Emirati cuisine cookbook, which she hopes will help raise international awareness of this highly-traditional type of food. While most of the books recipes have been passed down through generations, Chef Atiq has also created her own authentic dishes using Emirati ingredients, such as dates.

Gourmet Abu Dhabi Culinary Masterclass by Khulood Atiq was held from 9.30am to 11.00am at the Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Fans will have another chance to meet the first female Emirati chef during the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Awards Gala Dinner on 23 February 2012,  from 7.00pm to 11.00pm at the Rocco Forte Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri sweeps Gourmet Abu Dhabi Stars Awards

Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, swept the Gourmet Abu Dhabi Stars Awards last night with three wins; Executive Chef of the Year – Gary Robinson; Restaurant Chef of the Year  Jean Hurstel at Bord Eau; and Food & Beverage Manager of the Year – Ahmed Issa.

The three awards at the Gourmet Abu Dhabi are in recognition of the significant contribution that the three individuals have made to the development of the food and beverage industry in Abu Dhabi.

Gary Robinson, Executive Chef of both Shangri-La Hotel and Traders Hotel within the Qaryat Al Beri complex, joined the team in April 2009 from Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong. His career highlights include being the Head Chef for The Prince of Wales and working all over the world including London, Dubai, Hong Kong and now Abu Dhabi.

Chef Jean Hurstel joined Shangri-La Hotel‘s french fine dining restaurant Bord Eau in May 2009. He has ensured that the impeccable reputation of Bord Eau has continued to shine and his cuisine is highly reputed in the gourmet ”foodie” world. Read more
