Elsa’s ice castle in “Frozen”

Many things about “Frozen” are fantastic and one of them is definitely Elsa’s castle. It’s so incredible, that it’s easy to consider it a total fiction. But it’s not. 5 years before the production release, director Chris Buck stayed at the Hotel de Glace in Quebec City, Canada to do research. Hotel de Glace simply means the Ice Hotel and this is exactly what is – it’s built every December and you can stay there from January until April

Paradise Falls in “Up”

The inspiration for Carl and Ellie Frederickson’s dream adventure came after director Pete Docter and a Pixar’s team traveled to Venezuela. Amidst the tick South American jungle, they found what they were looking for – the Auyantepui Mountain and dropping from its very edge Angel Falls. This is the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall with a height of 979 m. And you may recall it also appeared in Disney’s “Dinosaur”, as well as in the horror comedy “Arachnophobia”.

Cadillac Range in “Cars”

“Cars” depicts the Cadillac Range as a huge mountain formation near Radiator Springs. However, it’s real-life counterpart is the famous Route 66 attraction – the Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo, Texas. This is an art installation, created in 1974, and it consists of old Cadillac cars, half-buries in the ground.

Ramone’s Body Shop in “Cars”

The body shop in the movie is almost an exact replica of the U-Drop Inn – an art deco gas station and restaurant in Shamrock, Texas.
