Growth is the best medicine, as regional health jobs expand by 14%

Increased demand and opportunities for recruits at UAE hospitals

The healthcare sector in the MENA region is gearing for a vigorous expansion of 14% per year in job opportunities. This forecast is amplified by the fact that support occupations worldwide will expand by 34.5% until 2020.

This robust growth is very positive news on several fronts: for the UAE economy, the healthcare sector, the individual hospitals and supporting institutions. The news will also be warmly applauded by graduates, students and professionals in the health fraternity, since it exponentially multiplies their employment options.

One influential reason for the skyrocketing in healthcare jobs is that the industry is collectively upgrading its facilities and expertise to world-class standards. In fact in some cases such as Saudi German Hospital-Dubai, some standards actually surpass the levels of their European and American counterparts.

The growing demand for medical recruits was illustrated by the participation of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai in the 6th edition of Employers Day. This was held at Dubai Women’s College, and representatives from the hospital energetically showcased the hospital’s attractions to prospective graduates.

Dr Mohaymen Abdelghany, CEO of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai, was extremely upbeat about the outcome of Employers Day: “This event is just what the doctor ordered. It gave us a platform to introduce our hospital as a socially responsible, regionally admirable and globally commendable organization.”

However, he was quick to point out that the hospital also learned a lot at the event: “Communication is a two-way road, so we were not just marketing Saudi German Hospital-Dubai but also listening to the students’ viewpoints. It was truly refreshing to hear their perceptions of medical careers. What I found most remarkable is that students are no longer looking at hospitals as just a place associated with negativity like diseases. Instead, they now see hospitals as places bubbling with positivity: it’s where new babies embark on the first chapter of their lives, and it’s also where patients regain their fitness and vitality to lead normal lives again. From an employment point of view, students now see hospitals as a source of livelihood, where top notch professionals make a living and bring joy to countless people.”
