Shopping tips for Cyber Everyday, or Cyber Monday

Holiday shoppers don’t need to wait until Cyber Monday to get online specials. Most of the “best Black Friday deals” are still available across online stores. This year retailers have been more aggressive than ever with their promotions. Most of the online sales started on 26th of November and are currently extended until 30th of November, or even 4th of December.

Who needs to wait until the Monday after Thanksgiving to shop online? For example,  Amazon kicked off a Cyber Monday Deals Week on Saturday, right after the final hour of the Black Friday sale.

Retailers say the earlier Cyber Monday start time is easier on young families that don’t want to shop at midnight. Yet plenty of people will, indeed, be shopping Monday morning. This year, roughly half of Millennials say they will shop online on Cyber Monday. Nearly 30% of those in the 45-to-54 age group also say they will shop online Monday.

The term Cyber Monday celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. But let’s face it, shopping online is now a year-round activity. Back in 2005, not many consumers had high-speed Internet access at home. As a result, much holiday online shopping was done on the sly during work hours, so the retail industry then christened the Monday after Thanksgiving “Cyber Monday.”

Consumers expect to spend 45% of their holiday budgets this year via e-commerce channels. During the entire year, online and mobile commerce are expected to comprise 9% of total retail sales in 2015, up from 6% five years ago.

You can literally do everything using your tablet or laptop from the comfort of your couch, including browsing through the best deals of numerous online stores, or reading the reviews of Dubai Chronicle’s team such as:

Watch how you shop online.

Shoppers need to be especially careful of any unexpected pop-ups that they spot while shopping online. Fake pop-ups can tell you that your computer is infected. Or maybe a fake pop-up offers what seems like some incredible deal. The best bet is to back out and shut down or restart the computer.
