The World Economic Forum announced its Young Global Leaders (YGLs) honorees for 2014. They come from 7 different regions and over 65 countries. In addition, they are representatives of either the private or the public sector.

The total number of this year’s Yong Global Leaders is 214. Nearly 110, or a little over 50% of them are women. Most of the 2014’s YGLs come from East Asia and Europe. Fewer are those from Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East and North Africa.

The United Arab Emirates also has its representatives. Out of MENA’s 18 young global leaders for 2014, four are from the UAE. The interesting thing about them is that all four are women.

Among the honorees this year is UAE’s Lana Nusseibeh who is ambassador and permanent representative of the UAE to the United Nations. Nusseibeh is actually the country’s first female permanent representative to the UN. Prior to that, she occupied various leading positions in USE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the Emirati YGL honorees is also Noura Al Kaabi. She is CEO of Media Zone Authority Abu Dhabi and twofour54. Al Kaabi is the first woman from the United Arab Emirates who made it to the Top 100 Global Thinkers List. In addition, last year she was also among the Forbes’ 30 Most Influential Women in Government in the Middle East.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri is the third UAE lady who became a YGL honoree. She is director-general of the media office of Dubai’s government. Al Marri is known for the fact that she initiated the foundation of the International Association of Press Clubs.

Last, but not least, is Leila Hoteit who is a partner in Booz & Company. She specializes in various fields, like strategic planning, education, organizational designs, policy development, women’s economic empowerment and many others.

According to World Economic Forum, a young global leader needs to possess four main qualities – to achieve success under the age of 40, to be committed in the task of serving society, to have some extraordinary achievement, as well as an impeccable public record.
