Kinokuniya: World of Books

Covering 68,000 square feet, Kinokuniya Book World is the largest book store in the region, occupying almost an entire corner of the second floor of The Dubai Mall. The famous Japanese bookstore chain is known worldwide for its super-size stores, holding records allover Asia and North America.

However, it is nor the size that sets this mammoth book store apart. Kinokuniya delivers a super-size portion of substance too. It was founded in 1927 and now stocks more than half million books and 1,000 magazines in a variety of languages, including English, Arabic, French, German, Chinese and Japanese. Readers can discover tomes on even the most obscure topics, from philosophy to politics, cooking to crafts, art to architecture. Sections are dedicated to every possible subject.

Being of Japanese origin, Kinokuniyya signature is the impressive collection of Manga comic books and graphic novels. Add to this a huge area of interesting stationary, quirky collectibles and an “art gallery” space and you could easily spend hours there. To make it even more convenient, there is a chic cafe in store overlooking The Dubai Fountain which offers drinks and snacks including Japanese specialities like green tea ice cream.
