Football fans around the world are counting the days for the first match of FIFA World Cup 2014, which will kick off on June 2012 in Brazil. One of the greatest footballers today and World Player of the Year for 2013, Christiano Ronaldo, warms up the fans for the great tournament in a new Emirates ad where he stars together with his colleague, the legend of the football world, Pele.
Emirates Airline, which has been an Official FIFA Worldwide Partner since 2006, chose Christiano Ronaldo as its new Global Ambassador. The new video for their campaign starring the Portuguese forward and his co-ambassador for the airline, Pele, has already reached more than 1 million views on YouTube. It takes an interesting view on the two footballers, showing the contrast in generations and asking the fans who is the best – Pele or Christiano Ronaldo. While the older generation will immediately recognize Pele, younger fans consider the 29-year-old who plays in Real Madrid their hero. It’s only up to fans to choose their favourite in this battle of legends, but the Emirates ad has another great function, as well.
It takes place onboard the Emirates flagship A380, but not in the main cabin. It takes us to the airplane ultra-luxury onboard lounge, which has a cocktail bar and offers passengers fine wines and gourmet food. In fact, the airplane has two lounges, two signature shower spas, private suites, Business Class seats which convert into flat beds, entertaining system and even Wi-Fi. Can you think of a better way to travel? Of course, the airline connects the largest part of the world with Brazil, which will be the world’s football capital this summer.
As a FIFA partner, Emirates is an official sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in June. The tournament is expected to attract tens of thousands visitors in the South American country, which is well-known in the football world as home of some of the greatest footballers of all time, including Pele himself.
