Saudi Binladin Group, a multinational construction conglomerate and holding company, has been awarded a contract worth Dh1.1 billion ($300 million) to design and build an aquatic sports centre in Dubai.

The project, being developed by Dubai Municipality, will be used to host the World Swimming Championships to be held in April 2010. The races at the championship will be held in a 10-lane, 25-metre pool, a report said.

The consultancy team working on the project comprises Faulkner Browns as the architect, Arup as the engineer and Davis Langdon as the cost consultant, all of the UK, it said.
