Apart from the ongoing Global Village event and Dubai Shopping Festival, this weekend in Dubai will offer a number of amazing entertainment opportunities for everyone in the city. The next few days will be particularly abundant of sports events. However, there will be also a few arts and culture celebrations. In addition to that, Dubai will greet the Chinese New Year in a very special way.
Starting with the sports events. Omega Dubai Desert Classic 2014 kicked off this Monday. However, if you did not get the chance to see some of the biggest names in golf today, you can do that over the weekend. The event will continue until February 2nd and it is held at the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course. The best golfer will take home a prize of $2.5 million.
The Royal Salute UAE Nations Cup 2014 also takes place this week. Nevertheless, since it started on January 27th, it will not continue throughout the entire weekend. Therefore, those of you, who want to attend the Finals, should mark January 31st on their calendars. Six different polo teams will participate in the tournament, which will be held at Dubai Palm, Polo Club.
The biggest event of the equestrian jumping season is, without a doubt, the Dubai Show Jumping Championships. The competition will begin this Thursday and it will run through Saturday (February 1st). This show is especially suitable for families. It will allow you to spend the weekend in a friendly atmosphere.
Enough with all that sport! Time for some real weekend entertainment. This year, the Chinise New Year will arrive on January 31st (Friday). To mark the occasion, the East China State Circus will treat people in Dubai with a breathtaking circus performances. The shows will run from January 28th (Tuesday) until February 1st (Saturday). The admission fees start at AED 150 and the event will take place at Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
A weekend is not a weekend without a concert. This Friday, the stage will be taken by the French band Les Grandes Bouches. Their music is a mix of different styles, like groove, swing and jazz. The three musicians offer a great spectacle that even includes improvisations. The result is pure joy for music lovers. Tickets start at AED 100 and only AED 80 for Alliance Française members. The time is January 31st and the place – Auditorium of Alliance française, Oud Metha.
Last, but not least is the Big Boys Toys Exhibition. It offers unique exhibits that include new luxury lifestyle products. It showcases everything from gadgets, demonstrations, popular brands and interactive programs. The event runs between January 29th and February 1st and it is unique for the region. The exhibition will be held at Atlantis, The Palm.
