Community Development Authority discusses co-operation with Islamic and Arab Studies College

Summer training for UAE national girls at CDA

cda-at-islamic-and-arab-studies-collegeDr. Maryam Matar, Director General of the Community Development Authority (CDA), met Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman, Dean of the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies in Dubai, to discuss opportunities for future partnership between the two organisations including the opportunity for young UAE national girls from the college to undertake summer training at CDA.

The meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Omar AbdulAziz Al-Muthanna, CEO of Regulatory & Licensing Program, CDA, and Dr. Tarek Hashem Ibrahim, Head of Research Department, Acting Head of Strategic Planning, CDA.

Dr Matar presented an overview of the scope of work and activities carried out by the Community Development Authority to improve living conditions for the community. She also lauded the significant developments achieved by The Islamic and Arabic Studies College, especially as it is the first college in the UAE to grant a Masters degree in Islamic Shari’a and Arabic language and a Doctoral Program in Islamic Fiqh and Osool.

Dr. Matar said: “CDA aims to implement its strategic objectives by partnering with various local and regional institutions, including the College of Islamic and Arab Studies, which is a prestigious educational institution that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform an active role in the community. Our partnership agreement allows young Emirati girls to be trained at CDA”.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Mohamed Abdul Rahman said: “The Community Development Authority has made significant developments within the community in a short period of time as it works for the welfare for all members of the society. We are very happy with this partnership and thank CDA for giving summer training for our students, which will contribute to develop their skills.”

The College of Islamic and Arabic Studies in Dubai is a philanthropy endowment institution and is established by his Excellency Juma Al-Majid. The college was established with the encouragement and patronage of the Government of Dubai. The college has two divisions, one for men and another for women, and offers two key majors – Islamic studies and the Arabic language.

Community Development Authority (CDA):
The CDA is a government entity mandated with enhancing the social development in Dubai to achieve the Dubai strategic plan 2015 which was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on February 2007.

The CDA will work towards promoting and raising the social standards in Dubai, and increasing the role of citizens in the community by cooperating with concerned entities in order to achieve the goals of the development sector and to develop the basic structure necessary for this.

The CDA will work on setting up the necessary policies and standards pertaining to social services providers based on its five strategic goals including promotion of national identity, social protection, social inclusion, social empowerment, and social cohesion in Dubai.
