The Fitness First ‘Ultimate’ X-Training Challenge returns for its 2nd year to find Dubai’s fittest!

November 9, 2009

1.Fitness First members and Professional Athletes take part in the annual Fitness First ‘Ultimate’
X-Training Challenge on 20th and 21st November at Ibn Battuta Mall;
2.With three categories of involvement; Professional, Amateur and Teams – Fitness First – the world’s largest health and fitness chain – brings athletes together to raise funds for the charity – All As One;
3.Adrian Hayes –last year’s Professional Winner and competing again this year – has recently become the 15th person in the World, and in the shortest period of time in history, to reach†the ‘3 Poles’ of the Earth -†walking the entire way to†the†North and South†Poles and summiting Mt Everest.

Lindsay-signatureFitness First invites its members to participate in the community’s hardest fitness challenge – the club’s annual X-Training Challenge, this November in Ibn Battuta Mall.

With three categories of entry – Professional (Invitation Only), Amateur and Teams – the fitness challenge incorporates individuals and teams going simultaneously head-to-head through the grueling 12 station course, which incorporates cardio, strength and well known circuit based exercises to push the body to its limits.

Raising the awareness of fitness in the region, Fitness First is encouraging its members to compete against one another to focus on the benefits of cross training, as well as achieving recognised winning status and raising funds for Fitness First’s chosen charity; All As One.

“The response to last year’s X-Training Challenge with over 140 participants was overwhelming, we’re really hoping to make this year, bigger, better…and harder!” says Gary Melhuish, Fitness First Area Business Manager who developed the X-Training Challenge way back in 1994. “With professional entrants including last year’s winner, Adrian Hayes – and his rival Darren Robson, we’re looking forward to plenty of competition over the weekend – and we want the people of Dubai to come and cheer on their favourite competitor!”

Cross Training blends a series of different activities into one workout, which comes with a raft of fitness benefits,” continues Gary. “The variation offers satisfying results and can be a better option for developing all round balanced fitness, so we’re keen to encourage this type of exercise – both in and out of Fitness First clubs – so this way, we’re bringing fitness to the community.”
Last year’s winner’ Adrian Hayes, a former Gurkha Officer and special forces soldier†in the British Army, educated at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Adrian has recently became only the 15th person in the World, and in the shortest period of time in history, to reach†the ‘3 Poles’ of the Earth -†walking the entire way to†the†North and South†Poles and summiting Mt Everest.

After winning last year’s Fitness First challenge, Adrian, 45, has famously said the following:

“Winning was [my] proudest moment because the mean age for successful polar explorers is in their 40s but for fitness challenges such as this, its usually your 20s.”
