Freelancer Deals in Media Production

Freelance professionals wanting to work with twofour54, Abu Dhabi’s content creation zone, or its partner companies, can now acquire licences for an annual fee of US$1360 and corresponding residence visas for $517, DPME.com can reveal.

The freelance initiative is aimed at attracting individuals in the TV and film production sector to work with twofour54’s partner companies including intaj, its technology services arm.

The deal massively undercuts Dubai Studio City’s comparative freelance production visa, which costs US$5000.

Although the twofour54 scheme is currently open only to sound and video editors, camera operators, production engineers, special effects technicians and styling artists, twofour54 has promised to expand the programme to include more categories next year.

These are anticipated to include talent roles, creative roles and selected administrative roles designed to further encourage the development of a talent pool for the creative industry in Abu Dhabi. However, twofour54 has made it clear that freelancers will only be able to work with its media partners.

Those who acquire freelance licenses before October 2010 can also avail of a further 50% discount on the announced fee.
