Thousands head to Night Souq in its first days

Thousands of shoppers are making a bee-line to the Night Souq, the unique DSF attraction that has given a new dimension to shopping in an entertaining ambience.

The Night Souq is located next to Al Ghurair Centre in Al Riqqa Street, one of the key DSF destinations, which is also hosting the Monte Carlo Circus, puppet shows, theatrical dances and other entertainment activities. The temporary Naif Souq opens

Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, acting director general of Dubai Municipality officially opened Thursday the temporary Naif Souq built by Dubai Municipality for the traders of the old Naif Souq, which was gutted in an inferno early April.

Lootah said, “The temporary Souq, which is now ready for receiving the public, was set up by the Municipality with the best specifications that suit this type of markets within the shortest possible time”.

Khan Murjan – a legendary souq

 Khan Murjan, a close copy of an ancient Arabian market has been poured into a 50,000-square-feet hole off Shaikh Rashid Road in Dubai.

An underground shopping mall themed after the legendary Khan Murjan souq in Baghdad of the 1300s was officially opened by the Queen of Syria – actually an actress playing her role  in Wafi City.

Though the Dubai version of the original Khan Murjan is dimly lit – it is two floors underneath Wafi Mall – and air conditioned, it follows the traditional styles of Egypt, Turkey, Morocco and Syria. Read more
