For the 7th consecutive year, Jumeirah Group is teaming up with Mercato for the annual Dubai Summer Surprises event known as the Jumeirah Giant Charity Cake Sale, in support of Dubai Autism Center.
More than 60 executive pastry chefs from Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts have teamed up to prepare an exquisite display of 2255 mouthwatering cakes, to celebrate DSS sweet surprises. This number of cakes represents the total number of rooms provided by Jumeirah Groupâs Dubai Hotels & Resorts.
The Jumeirah Giant Charity Cake Sale will take place on Friday 9th July from 3.00pm â 10.00pm at Mercato. The evening will feature a variety of scrumptious cakes consisting of many flavors, designs and sizes, with choices to satisfy everyoneâs taste. Coral Deira â Dubai shines again at the MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge

Coral Deira â Dubai team, comprising of two chefs and four service staff, won the Bronze medal in the Black Box Culinary Challenge at the Joharah Ballroom at Madinat Jumeirah earlier this month.
Teams of young chefs from 15 five-star Dubai hotels competed in the MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge, which is supported by the Emirates Culinary Guild and the World Association of Chefs Societies. The main sponsors, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), have successfully organized over seventy-seven Black Box Competitions in the Asian region since 1996. Four global finals have been held sequentially in Singapore 2000, Kyoto Japan 2002, gold coast Australia 2005 and Dubai 2008. The 5th global final is scheduled for Korea in 2012. Read more

The Middle East Junior Chef of the Year, organized by the Emirates Culinary Guild and a signature event of Dubai Summer Surprises, officially opened on June 23 at BurJuman, a key sponsor of DSS, to kick start the most awaited culinary battle this year.
Yousif Mubarak, Chief Operations Officer of the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, and Eisa Adam, General Manager of BurJuman, inaugurated the event accompanied by Chef Uwe Micheel, President of the Emirates Culinary Guild.
âThe Middle East Junior Chef of the Year is among the most awaited culinary events in the GCC, attested by the presence of over 600 chefs from all over the region. Nestlé Middle East today announced that it has partnered with instructional video company Howcast Media to provide how-to videos relevant to the health and lifestyle needs of consumers in the region. Nestlé Middle East turned to Howcast to localize its instructional lifestyle content into Arabic and integrate the content into its regional site, Nestlé Family.

Chef Shaukat Ali Qureshi from the Indian restaurant âGharanaâ at the Holiday Inn Dubai â Al Barsha, and culinary expert Obeda Oturkar will conduct two-day courses each for Punjab, Lucknow, Jaipur and Hyderabad styles of cooking. Each course, spread over 2 days, includes one starter, a main course, a side dish as well as a rice dish, Indian bread and dessert. Punjab classes will be on June 7th & 9th and Lucknow on 14th and 16th from 11am to 1pm. Those who cannot attend on a weekday can join the weekend classes on June 12th and 19th or June 26th and July 3rd. The total cost for two classes and the lunch is AED 450.
