Exhibition to focus on the impulse of printmaking and features work.
Pro Art Gallery, the gallery that celebrates innovative art and collectibles, announced that is holding an exhibition titled ‘ Prints & Multiples’, at the Pro Art Gallery located at Palm Strip Shopping Mall on Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 1. The exhibition, which will open at 7pm on April 24th, 2013, will showcase the artworks of over 30 international artists and will focus attention on the impulse of printmaking and features works which are opinionated and fun. The exhibition will run from April 24 to May 11, 2013.

Today, 20th of March, is the first International Day of Happiness. This special day was established last year by UN’s General Assembly. On it, the world celebrates happiness and the pursuit of it.
Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General, published a message dedicated to the celebration. In it, he outlined the importance of finding happiness. In addition, he stated that this is still impossible in places where people live in “extreme poverty” and lack basic material facilities. Yet, Ki-moon expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of some governments to offer better living conditions to its populations. The Secretary-General concluded by urging for mutual help and compassion. Read more

Ramadan to begin on July 10th, Eid Al Fitr on August 9th

The Sharjah Planetarium at the Department of Culture and Information announced that the Ramadan Crescent will form on July 8th 2013 at 11:14 am and set at 19:08pm, five minutes before the sunset.
The crescent will be seen on July 9th in the evening. So the first day of Ramadan will be July 10th, astronomically, corresponding to Ramadan 01, 1434 H.
It also announced that the Shawwal crescent will appear on July 7th at 00:51am and set with the sunset, making it difficult to be seen, and hence completes the last day of Ramadan (30 days). So Friday, Aug. 9th, will be astronomically the first day of Shawwal and the first day of Eidul Fitr . Read more
