Royal Caribbean to exit Dubai after 2013

Royal Caribbean International will leave Dubai following its upcoming winter season with Serenade of the Seas, according to a Middle East report in the latest issue of Seatrade Cruise Review.
‘We were initially very pleased with the business development there and expected continued growth; however, the demand has declined in recent seasons and as a result we have had to make some difficult decisions, driven by strategic and financial considerations, about discontinuing our programme there,’ said Royal Caribbean’s Helen Beck, regional director, International Representatives. Main sea freight index up on increased demand for large vessels

Rosier times ahead of shipping stocks
The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry commodities, rose for a third straight session on Wednesday. A surge in Atlantic and Pacific activity boosted rates for larger vessels.
The overall index, a gauge of the cost of shipping commodities such as iron ore, cement, grain, coal and fertiliser, rose 25 points or 3.59 percent to 722 points. Read more

Emirates will fly double daily to Jordan from 1st October, providing greater access to one of the most popular tourism destinations in the Middle East.
Amman is one of Emirates’ longest established routes. The Dubai-based airline has been flying to the Jordanian capital since 1986, the year after Emirates was launched.
On 1st September last year, Emirates marked 25 years of flights to Jordan, a service that began with just three flights per week.

There will be no traffic fines issued in Dubai during the Eid holidays.
However, warning motorists against mistaking the Dubai Traffic Police’s kind gesture for a free pass to traffic violations, Acting Head of Traffic Department, Col Saif Mohair Al Mazrouei, said, “There will be no compromise and tolerance of abuse of roads.” Read more

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently visited the building of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). He was briefed on the various projects, programmes and initiatives RTA intends to implement in the next phase.
