Self-driving cars are ultimately safer than those driven by humans

In the United States, the future got a little closer this week. The state of Nevada became the first to allow self-driving cars on its public roads.

The state issued Google the first testing license for its absolutely autonomous vehicles (aka self-driving car), which will allow the cars to drive on public streets and highways. The self-driving cars are guided by GPS, visual indicators, sensor, and artificial intelligence software. Read more

Diesel performance parts are hard to find in Dubai, because generally, diesel vehicles are nor a popular option in the fourth worldwide oil-producing country. When it comes to heavy duty trucks and construction equipment, this is not so, because diesel equipment is largely preferred as cost efficient. Multinational companies operating in the Middle East and North Africa area often opt to use diesel equipment in harsh working conditions.

While it is not difficult to purchase diesel heavy duty trucks, although delivery requires two to three months, it is really hard to maintain the machines after their warranty period of one or two years expires. This is so, because it is hard to find spare parts. Spare parts and truck accessory dealers simply do not stock diesel performance parts. Read more

dnata handles record cargo volumes at Dubai World Central

dnata cargo operations at its terminal at Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) have reached record volumes as growth and expansion continue.

After increasing steadily for some months, during the month of October cargo volumes rose by a record 59% with aircraft movements at DWC also registering a growth of 33% to 280 movements in October against the previous month’s frequency. Read more

Dubai Police auctioned off 127 cars

127 vehicles put forward for auction were sold off as one lot

More than 50 people attended the latest Dubai Police auction. The forth of its kind sale disposed cars that have been seized due to outstanding fines or illegal acts for longer than six months. However, owners of the auctioned cars can claim “a large percentage” of the amount paid for them, according to a source from Dubai Police.

The 127 vehicles put forward for auction were sold off as one lot.

A bargain-hunting, Dubai-based businessman has snapped up 127 cars – including an Aston Martin sportscar – for Dhs1.35 million. The buyer paid Dhs10,500 on average per car. The vehicles, which included some Dodges and several Toyotas.

Dubai Police to auction confiscated vehicles

Dubai Police announced it intends to auction 129 confiscated vehicles, remaining on its premisses after the legal period of detention.

Interested parties can preview the vehicles to be auctioned at the Qusais area in Dubai from Tuesday 17th of April until 24th of April 2012, between 8am and 7pm. Read more
