iPhone 4S available for pre-order in UAE

Etisalat today announced that the highly-anticipated iPhone 4S is now available for pre-order from Etisalat’s ‘MORE’ rewards website www.etisalat.ae/more. Etisalat offers prepaid-package options on all three new iPhone 4S devices – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. In addition, customers will receive free 500MB data per month for the first three months. From the fourth month onward, the data will be available for as low as AED50.

Etisalat business timings during National Day Holidays

On the celebratory occasion of the UAE’s 40th National Day, Etisalat today announced the timings of its Business and Service Centers on 1 – 3 December. These timings seek to ensure that customers continue to access their Etisalat’s services even during holidays. Etisalat’s dedicated outlets in malls across the UAE, except Top Foam in Al Ain and Etihad Plaze in Abu Dhabi, will remain operational as per their normal working hours. A new Arab Advisors Group’s survey of cellular users in the UAE reveals insightful details on the smartphones adoption and usage patterns in the UAE. The survey also probed general cellular usage habits, smartphones awareness in addition to tablets availability among cellular users in the UAE. Nationwide Educational Campaign on Internet Safety launched at Gitex

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), and the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) launched a nationwide campaign aiming to educate students on cyber security and the risks of improper use of the internet. aeCERT also endorsed the ‘Global CyberLympics’ initiative.

The Global CyberLympics is an annual series of team-based cyber security games, with regional championships across different continents, and conclude with a world finals championship. The Global CyberLympics Middle East Championships will host the most skilled white hat hackers from the region, and the top two teams will represent the region to compete in the world finals championship in 2012. This not-for-profit initiative will create a platform through which information and expertise can be exchanged to support information security sector in the region. Read more

Blackberry subscribers compensated with 3 days free of charge

Etihad Etisalat “Mobily” announced that it will compensate its blackberry users with an extended 3 days of Blackberry service, free of charge, after a widespread blackberry service outage the Middle east due to reasons beyond local and regional operators’ control.

VP Corporate communications and PR at Mobily, Humoud Al Ghobaini, stated that despite the fact that operators had nothing to do with the interruption, and that the outage was on the source’s end, compensating our blackberry users is the company’s way of showing them how much we care. Read more
