Apple Inc. has secretly opened an office in Abu Dhabi, some sources suggest. What is more, the technology giant is currently recruiting new staff from the region, according to a number of reporters.

This information was first revealed in a research conducted by Knight Frank, an independent global residential and commercial property consultancy. The London-based company published a study called “Abu Dhabi Offices: Market Update”. In it, Knight Frank offers statistics, news and findings about the corporate offices in Abu Dhabi. The research reveals that Apple is a “major occupier” in the city’s twofour54 media zone. This is a tax-free media and entertainment free zone, where are also located the regional offices of BBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Ubisoft and Financial Times. Read more

This year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was held between February 24 and 27. The event was really impressive with the number of visitors, exhibitors, journalists and even government delegates in attendance. Reportedly over 72,000 people from more than 2000 different countries visited the event. Among them were influential and popular software and Internet companies, mobile carriers and equipment providers. Interestingly, there were also businesses from outside sectors like healthcare, automotive and finance. Half of them occupied high-level corporative positions, 4,300 of which were chief execute officers. In addition, over 1,300 companies participated in the exhibitions at the 2013 WMC. Microsoft is ready to release a new Skype function – Video messages. The service will enable consumers to send one another short video messages with length of up to three minutes.
The news was announced by The Verge. The website published a report in which claims that Microsoft will launch the new Skype service as soon as this week. A recent Kaspersky Lab International Ltd. survey on the daily Internet activities has revealed the UAE users are more likely to use a variety of online services to communicate and amuse themselves. Email, social networks, and online video were the most popular, with almost 85%, 83% and 82% of users dealing with them correspondently every day. And if the world average for email activity is almost the same (86%), the interest in social networks and online video worldwide is approximately 10% lower than in the UAE. Read more
