On the occasion of the World Intellectual Property Rights Day, Dubai Municipality (DM) honored the youngest Emirati scientist and inventor, the 9-year-old Adeeb Suleiman Al Balushi. Having seven inventions registered in his name already, the boy is currently working on a device that will predict heart attacks while driving and save many lives.

Ford continues its commitment to engage the tech community in the quest for the next great idea, as it announces opening of The Ford Silicon Valley Lab (SVL) in Palo Alto, California.
Ford Executive Chairman, Bill Ford, visited the spiritual home of the computer and consumer electronics industry to celebrate the grand opening of the Ford Silicon Valley Lab and to participate in the Computer History Museum’s “Revolutionaries” lecture series.
“We have been innovating for more than a century at Ford, but we acknowledge we don’t have a monopoly on creativity,” said Ford. “Our new office will complement our existing research efforts by allowing us to tap into the region that has been driving consumer technology forward in recent decades.” Read more
UAE ranked 37th in innovation performance

For the second year running, Qatar and the UAE lead the Middle East in overall innovation performance, according to the Global Innovation Index 2012 (GII) released by INSEAD, an international business school.
The list of overall GII top 10 performers has changed little from last year. Switzerland, Sweden, and Singapore are followed by Finland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Hong Kong (China), Ireland, and the US. Read more
