NEC Display Solutions to unveil the first 23-inch display with IPS Technology

The new MultiSync EA231WMi display, which will be commercially available in October 2009, features more productivity and low power consumption
NEC Display Solutions has announced that it is all set to unveil the first 23-inch display with IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology in October this year. The new MultiSync® EA231WMi, which packs in 16:9 aspect ratio, offers excellent image quality in high resolution (full HD) whilst keeping power demand at the lowest level. Furthermore the user’s productivity increases due to the wide-screen format. Consistent with NEC’s Green Vision approach to product design, this model provides numerous eco-features which ensure environmentally friendly operation without compromising its performance.

“The MultiSync® EA231WMi comes with latest TCO 5.0 certification and satisfies the criteria of the forthcoming Energy Star 5.0 label. It is also the first monitor which combines a 23-inch wide-screen display with high-quality IPS technology,” explained Ian Gobey, the General Manager of NEC Display Solutions, Middle East. “The IPS technology offers outstanding viewing angle and image stability as well as brilliantly displayed colours, which will be appreciated by all office users. A comprehensive approach to ecological design ensures the MultiSync® EA231WMi sets benchmark standards for Green Productivity.”

The Ambient Light Sensor feature measures the ambient light levels and adjusts the screen brightness accordingly, leading to optimum working conditions and energy usage at all times. Furthermore, the monitor can be switched to power-saving Eco mode by simply using the One-Touch-Eco-Button. The monitor is shipped from the factory with Eco mode activated as standard. A Carbon Savings Meter calculates and totals the CO2 savings that have been accrued by using the monitor in Eco Mode.

The device has obtained the TCO 5.0 certification, one of the world’s toughest standards for ergonomics and eco-friendliness, as well as satisfies Energy Star 5.0 requirements. The height of the display can be adjusted by up to 110mm, and rotated into portrait mode resulting in comfortable working ergonomics for all situations. By utilising the additional fixing points on the stand, it can also be used at the same height as the screen of an adjacent laptop.

One new technology feature of this and future NEC Desktop Displays is the DisplayPort interface – a compact as well as easy to use screw-less plug connection for the video cable. It facilitates a higher bandwidth and thus higher resolutions, as well as longer cables, and ensures future-proof compatibility. With the MultiSync® EA231WMi, NEC Display Systems is introducing an office display that offers a convincing combination of ecological, ergonomic and economic benefits.

Availability
The NEC MultiSync® EA231WMi will be available in stores from October in black as well as in white with a silver front frame. The package will include a power cable, one analogue and one digital signal cable, a USB cable, a manual and an installation and driver CD.
