Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club (SG&SC), is once again giving golfers from across the region a once in a lifetime opportunity to qualify for a place in the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq where the winners will tee off with golfing legends in the second edition of the Staysure Tour event, taking place at SG&SC from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 March.
Entry is now open for local professionals and amateurs with a 2.4 handicap or lower for the qualifier which will be held at SG&SC on February 11. The top two finishers will each be awarded a place in the main event, where they will rub shoulders with some of the greats of the game including Des Smyth, Ronan Rafferty and Costantino Rocca as well as defending champion Chris Williams.
“The standard of golf is really high on the Staysure Tour, but we have a lot of fun too,” said eight-time European Tour winner Smyth who played in the 1979 and 1981 Ryder Cup, and was a Vice-Captain to Paul McGinley in the 2014 victory at Gleneagles. “It’s a little bit more relaxed than the European Tour whilst still being very competitive. I’m sure it’ll be a fantastic experience for the winners of the qualifier.”
Nick Tarratt, Director European Tour International, Dubai Office, added: “This is a unique initiative giving local pros and low handicap amateurs a chance to play in a full Staysure Tour event, which is a very rare opportunity.
“I’m sure interest will be very high among the golfing community and we wish the competitors who secure a spot in the qualifier on February 11th the very best of luck.”
