Sit down, grab a pen and piece of paper and try to describe the ideal weekend. As a rule of the thumb, a well-spent weekend should consist of some quality time spent with your family and friends, some food for the eye and the soul, music and a bit of an action, as well. Let’s see how much of that will this weekend in Dubai offer you!
One of families’ favorite weekend spots is the cinema. Unfortunately, not all movies are suitable for young audiences. However, this weekend, you and your family can enjoy a movie marathon thanks to the Children’s International Film Festival. The event starts on April 23 and it will continue until May 2. This means that you can actually enjoy two weekends filled with family films. This year, the festival will show 70 international films from more than 60 countries. The productions can be watched across selected cinemas across the city and the country.
Those who prefer to be in the company of friends, should definitely add DXBeach Festival to their weekend to-do list. This edition will feature one of the most successful DJs today and the brain behind the hit “Uptown Funk”– Mark Ronson. Also performing will be singer Jess Glynne best known for her song with Clean Bandits “Rather Be.” The events will kick off at 12 p.m. on April 24, at Zero Gravity, SkyDrive Dubai.
If you don’t consider yourself a good dancer, but appreciate this skill, do not miss the 15th edition of Sharmila Dance Extravaganza. The show will run for two days, between April 24 and 25, DICTAC, Mall of the Emirates and it will include amazing performances by both dance students and professionals. You can expect a spectacular show and a mixture of dance styles.
For people looking to satisfy their artistic and cultural hunger, StreetCon – Urban Art Jam will do the trick. The exhibition will focus on local urban art and it will run for ten days, starting April 23 (Thursday). It will include works of more than 20 artists and it is open for everyone wishing to go and see them. The Urban Art show will be organized at the Al Ghurair Centre.
Numaish Summer Show and Talent Hunt 2015 will show a different form of art. The seasonal fashion exhibition will once again line out the newest and hottest fashion trends and designs from both the western and ethnic part of the industry. In addition to that, this year’s event will also consist of a Talent Hunt show. So, regardless of whether you are a fashionista or a talent waiting to be discovered, make sure you stop by Al Murooj Rotana Hotel on April 24 and April 25.
Time for some weekend action! If you think you have what it takes, you can take part the Dubai Desert Road Run. Apart from the traditional 3km races, this year, there will also be a 3k and 10k races.
If that action is too much for you, you can just attend Icons Cup 2015. This gold tournament will gather some of iconic athletes from various sports fields between April 22 and April 24 at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Among them will be footballers Luis Figo and Robbie Fowler and professional boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
It looks like all Dubai will once again offer you a recipe for the ideal weekend.
